How to Design an E-Invitation!

Hey everyone, hope you’re doing well!

Having trouble deciding what kind of invitation card you want to send out for your 21st birthday or upcoming corporate dinner event? With an overwhelming sea of choices to choose from and a set of hefty prices to sieve out, choosing the best invitation card can become a nightmare dressed like a daydream .

With so many things to keep in mind, why not save all that trouble and create your very own card online using a digital tool…for free? Sounds too good to be true?

In this edition, we will share with you more about a design platform that will not only save you the time and money but also sweep your guests off their feet!

Tool: Canva

Allows you to create visual content for free. Available on the web and your mobile app store, this digital tool offers millions of images, fonts, templates and illustrations for you to choose from! Do take note there some of these elements can only be unlocked if you go premium.

Without further ado, let’s begin!

Step 1:
Once you’re on Canva, key the word “ Invitation” into the search box and select from an array of templates! You can also choose to create your very own invitation from scratch by clicking on the “ blank “ canvas option.

Step 2:
Select from a wide range of design elements ranging from frames and icons to even banners! However, do take note that some elements need to be purchased. Therefore, you may alternatively choose to upload your own elements and vectors or source from a list of free image websites provided below!

Step 3:
Now it’s time to pick a background! You can choose from a wide range of options from Canva’s stock images and your photo library to the colour features available on the website.

Step 4:
Add a little magic to your card by selecting from a myriad of stunning filters & adding text. You can edit the text and explore different fonts to achieve your desired look!

Step 5:
Now it’s time to add images! Upload your very own photos or choose from over 1 million stock images available onsite.

However, not all images are free for use. But fret not, we’ve got you covered!

  • Unsplash
    A royalty free image site with over 1 million free images!

  • Pixabay
    Another free-to-use website boasting of more than 1.7 million free images. It also has over a million free vectors, illustrators and videos for any kind of use!

  • Freepngs
    An online library offering over 170,000 free PNG images (vectors with transparent backgrounds). You can even choose to bulk download all of these images in one click!

Step 6:
Still not satisfied with your card and feel like something’s missing? Experiment with different colours for your chosen elements! You can also play around with the opacity level to give your card a more nuanced look.

Step 7:
Add the finishing touches! You can put in additional elements if necessary.

Step 8:
Last but not least, don’t forget to save your masterpiece and share it with your team or friends!

And there you have it, a lovely E-invitation card ready to be sent out to your guests — and that’s not it! You can also follow these steps to create any template that you like. Instagram story templates, logos, resumes — you name it!
